Would You Rather Generator (Kids' Edition)

Silly, gross, hard. Ten at a time. Print the cards or just read them in the car.

Published Oct 29, 2026

Would-you-rather questions for kids, ten at a time, by age and category. Silly, gross, hard, food, animals, superpowers. Print the cards or just read them in the car. It won't make the "lose mom or dad" kind; a four-year-old gets to those with no help from a generator.

How to use it

  1. Pick a category and an age. "Family, everyone" works when the ages in the car are all over the place.
  2. Pick 10 or 20 and hit "Give me questions."
  3. Read one out loud. Everybody picks. Then ask "why?" That's where the game actually is.
  4. Want cards? Hit "Print the cards." They print eight to a page with cut lines.

Would You Rather for 3- and 4-Year-Olds

The rule for little kids: both options have to be things they can picture. "Would you rather be rich or famous" means nothing at three. "Would you rather have a pet dinosaur or a pet dragon" gets an answer in half a second and a ten-minute explanation of what the dragon eats.

Keep the two options the same size, so neither one is obviously better, and keep them physical: animals, food, colors, bodies doing silly things. These are the ten the generator starts from for ages 3 to 5:

  1. Would you rather have a pet dinosaur or have a pet dragon?
  2. Would you rather have spaghetti for hair or have marshmallows for toes?
  3. Would you rather hop like a bunny everywhere you go or waddle like a penguin everywhere you go?
  4. Would you rather be as small as a mouse or be as tall as a giraffe?
  5. Would you rather have a fluffy tail or have floppy bunny ears?
  6. Would you rather live in a bouncy castle or live in a treehouse?
  7. Would you rather only be able to quack or only be able to roar?
  8. Would you rather wear your shoes on your hands or wear your mittens on your feet?
  9. Would you rather take a bath in jelly or take a bath in bubbles taller than you?
  10. Would you rather ride a giant cat to the park or ride a giant dog to the park?

Funny, Gross and Hard: Picking a Category

Funny would-you-rather questions for kids ("Silly" above) work at every age and are the safe opener. Gross ones win with under-sixes every single time: slime, smelly socks, baths in strange foods. Hard ones are for eight and up, when kids start to enjoy arguing a position, and they're the best for the dinner table because they make everybody explain themselves.

"Family, everyone" writes questions a four-year-old and a grandparent can both answer. "Couples" is for the two of you after bedtime: still PG, mostly about parenting life, and it pairs well with the date night ideas generator.

How to Play Would You Rather with Kids

Read the question. Everybody picks one side, no "neither" and no "both." Then everyone says why. That's the whole game, and the why is where it gets good: the kid who picked the pet dragon now has to explain the feeding schedule.

In the car, one person reads and everyone answers in turn. At dinner, go around the table. With printed cards, kids take turns drawing a card and reading it to the grown-ups, which is reading practice they don't notice.

Tips

The "why" is the game

Picking takes one second. Defending it takes five minutes. Always ask why, then ask a follow-up nobody expected.

Gross beats everything under 6

Slime, socks, baked bean baths. You will not win a three-year-old over with a clever trade-off question. Lean into it.

Let them make one up

After a few rounds, the kids want to ask the grown-ups. Their questions are worse, and they're the ones everybody remembers.

No "lose mom or dad" questions

The generator is told no loss, death, injury or scary pairs, and every batch goes through a content filter. Kids come up with the dark ones on their own anyway. You don't need a website for that.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are good would you rather questions for kids?

Two options that are about equally good (or equally gross), that the kid can picture. "Would you rather have a pet dinosaur or a pet dragon?" works at three. "Would you rather have a pause button or a rewind button for your life?" works at nine. There are 50 on this page, and the generator makes more.

What are some gross would you rather questions for kids?

Would you rather take a bath in pudding or in baked beans? Smell like stinky socks or old cheese for a day? Burp or sneeze every time you laugh? Pick "Gross" in the generator for ten more. They're gross, not mean.

What age is would you rather good for?

From about three, with both options kept simple and physical, all the way up to adults. Pick the age in the generator and it matches the questions to it.

Are the questions appropriate for kids?

Yes. The generator is told no loss, death, injury, scary or romantic pairs (except PG couples questions in Couples mode), and every batch goes through a content filter. Anything flagged is thrown out, not cleaned up.

Can I print would you rather cards?

Yes. Hit "Print the cards" to print eight to a page with cut lines, or choose Save as PDF in the print window.
